Big Changes

I have a new job - it took four interviews with seven different people and six weeks of anxiety and anticipation but I got it! I accepted faster than a 25-year-old being asked on a date for the first time in her life, "Yes, I'll take the job!" - at which time the hiring manager suggested that I read the offer letter first.  It made me feel a little like a professional athlete without the signing bonus!  But I got the job and I started this week.

There is nothing more terrifying or more exhilarating than beginning a new position (okay, that's a slight exaggeration). Simply learning every one's name and their job titles is daunting enough but then to learn protocols and expectations of the job is huge - my mind is about to explode!

But I think I'm going to love working here.  I don't like to be bored or 'try to look busy' and this job will keep me hopping! Not only that, it is close to home - 9.7 miles to be exact - I have awesome benefits - I can ride my bike to work - locker room and showers are available - and best of all, it is fascinating work with a deep learning curve - I like to add to my crazy repertoire of useless knowledge.

One of my biggest fears is that in today's difficult and competitive job market someone will think I am the Sarah Palin of the hiring pool, "Really, that's the best they could find?" I'm going to work crazy hard to avoid anyone thinking that!
