My trusty steed and I went to the Bite of Seattle yesterday. I rode the Burke-Gillman trail - 100% flat the entire way with the exception of a short climb up Dexter to get to the Seattle Center. In my seemingly never ending desire to be a 'better" rider; stronger, faster, etc., I rode slowly - 10 MPH in to the bite. It took me an hour and a half to get there. But the weather was beautiful and the trail uneventful.
When I was married I always wanted to go to the Bite. My husband didn't like it at all - he hated the crowds. As I walked, or rather shuffled - the crowds were jam-packed, I suddenly understood his discomfort. I was really hungry and I couldn't decide what I wanted to eat. Maybe there were too many choices?
I decided on Mexican, found a seat in the grass and listened to a concert. On the way home I rode as fast as I could (partly because Penny and Scout needed their dinner!) and made it back in just short of an hour!
