I did a little DIY work this weekend. Being the type of person who thinks that hard work and a strong vision can achieve just about anything; I am often disappointed by the break down between what I want and what I can do with my skill level. But not so for this weekend's project!
My little patio is one of my favorite places and these chairs have often been a resting place on the weekend or a warm summer evening. The natural wood had become aged and somewhat splintered and I decided that a little makeover was in order. My vision was something that felt tropical, colorful and exotic. Visiting my local Home Depot paint department I got a tutorial on the proper technique and I made a promise to myself to TAKE MY TIME - to somehow meld my vision with my ability! The picture above is after I sanded and primed the wood.
The paint color is what I would describe as a 'black raspberry' - I planned on making cushions but instead found a perfect matching set with my Caribbean color scheme at Marshall's and they were on sale! I plan on making some accent pillows to complete the look.
I am so happy with the outcome - this time my vision and the final results are one in the same! I can't wait for a warm summer morning, a good cup of coffee and the newspaper - let's see if Seattle's weather will cooperate.
That does look really inviting. I am on the hunt for an umbrella. The stands are what kills it for me. They are as much as the umbrella! I am so cheap.
