I love creme brulee. The sugary hard topping - you know, where you have to use the side of your spoon to crack it open and inside is that creamy, rich deliciousness . . . oh, I could go on and on. Once I had a trio of brulees; coffee, mocha and vanilla - still remembering it.
The Thanksgiving of my 16th year was especially memorable. For reasons I can no longer recall my sister and I ended up alone in the basement next to the bar my parents had set up for the festivities. The kids beverage was root beer Kool-aid, really, who loves flat, root beer flavored sugar water? Apparently not Suzanne and I because we began adding bourbon. Yum, bourbon and root beer Kool-aid - so surprised it hasn't caught on.
Suzanne and I were not rule breakers - we didn't drink alcohol so this was really out of character for either of us. I wish I could see what my mom's face looked like when she finally discovered the two of us absolutely flat-ass wasted. She put us to bed and we both ended up sick and she spent the majority of the night cleaning up after us. I do remember the next morning - Suzanne and I had to do the mounds of laundry our little night of levity produced.

This year I will spend the holiday with my three children, their spouses and my adorable grandchildren. Sure the food will be delicious and abundant but the part I will remember most is how blessed I feel to have such a wonderful family.
I am shocked and don't believe you EVER shared this story with me!!
