One of the directors I support (remember, I'm an administrative assistant - a fancy title for a secretary) often comments that I am what God calls us to be - "joyful in the gifts He gives us," because I tell him and just about anyone else who'll listen, what I currently enjoy at that moment. Like this morning, if anyone had been here, I would have gone on and on about how much I love peanut butter and cinnamon sugar on toast. That is how I began my morning - along with a delicious cup of coffee that I brewed using my French press. It got me thinking about my other favorite things and I decided that is what I would blog about today. So here is a list:
- A hot bath on a Friday night: I light the candles, turn the lights down low, enjoy an icy glass of wine and think.
- Clean sheets: I once read that Jackie Kennedy had her bed changed twice a day because she always took a nap in the afternoon - I totally understand that. If laundry wasn't such a pain in the neck I'd totally indulge myself that way.
- Riding my bike: freedom - what I feel like when I'm riding.
- The sky just before dawn: Let me elaborate - I walk my dogs every morning before I leave for the gym. I love it when the stars are out and the way the sky looks just before it begins to brighten. I think about all the people I love and that they too might be looking at the same stars as me.
- Flossing my teeth: okay, that's weird but it something I love to do and certainly something my dentist appreciates. I have floss everywhere - my car, purse, every bathroom, by the television remote, kitchen . . .
- A good cry: sometimes you just have to empty out you soul and crying can be a good cleanser.
- An excellent night of sleep: few and far between now that I'm menopause woman but when it happens, it's delicious!
- A clean house: love the smell, the way it looks . . .
- A facial: I prefer that over a massage. Although, hmmm, can I have both??
- Day dreaming: it's where all my adventure begin.
This list doesn't include the people I love; I hope you know who you are - it is certainly my intention to tell you - life is too short to assume people know that you feel that way about them. I couldn't think of a way to express in a concise way how much I enjoy/love what I'm currently eating at any given moment. I really do try to make sure everything I put in my mouth is something I want to eat and hopefully am aware of what it tastes like and enjoy.
That's all I can think of right now.
