Posting my blog on a computer that was complete with the CPU enclosed in duct tape is impossible. That is reason number one why I've was unable to post anything about the beautiful coastal towns of Mui Ne and Loc An. The other excuses are many but none so compeling as the first one.
I am sitting on Marjie Bowker's bed in her air conditioned room waiting for my ride tour of Saigon with Nam (see http://www.marjiebowker.blogspot.com/ for background information). Yes, I've arrived at the Castle and I'll write more about that in my next blog entry but I must catch up now!

We arrived in Phan Tiet after one of the most grueling rides I've had in a long time. The weather was extremely hot and humid even using Viet Nam standards. It was a long ride as well; 100 kilometers. All of us made it including Jennifer who will get the "toughest rider" award. She was sick with a stomach aliment that many of our group had. But she rode the entire way without one complaint. She was amazing!
We only had one major injury; Jim Gore fell and broke his collar bone along with some pretty deep cuts in his leg and arm. Apparently he was looking to avoid a scooter and hit a patch of rocks and went down. He took the van to the local hospital where his wounds were examined and cleaned, X-rayed the bone, and received medication. Guess what the price was??? $40. On top of that he went the following day to a clinic where they changed the dressing and that was free. Unfortunately Jim couldn't ride anymore however, he did ask if he could!
The following day on the way to Mui Ne, we had another difficult ride, 120 kilometers.
Many of us, me included, opted for the van after lunch for the remaining distance to the resort and boy we're we happy we did. Our hotel rooms all looked out on to the infinity style pool with the aquamarine blue ocean behind. Team Tiger (Sue, Alison, Reilly, Judy and Karla), Ron, Mark, Jennifer and I hopped into our togs (bathing suits) and took a swim in the ocean. It was as warm as bath water.
Rick, Martin and George rode the remaining distance but trust me, as soon as they arrived they too were in the ocean. One of the highlights for me is I took a nighttime ocean swim after Martin convinced me that no weird sea animals would bite me. It was amazingly beautiful to be out there under the stars floating in the water. To say I was a million miles from Seattle would be an understatement.
There is so much more that I could write about. The memories I have will last me a lifetime. My next blog I'll write about Saigon. I have to prepare for my scooter tour with Nam!
