Everything That Has Happened to Me So Far

Let me begin by saying I've had a great deal of trouble just figuring out how to post something. This is the second computer I've come across and both times I've spend a lot of time just figuring out how to change the language to English. Imagine that, word processing done in Vietnamese!
My flight to Seoul was wonderful. Asiana provides wonderful service and to add to that I had three seats all to myself! The eleven hours and fifty minutes did not seem nearly as bad as I had anticipated. The flight to Vietnam was a more typical, filled to the bring with about enough legs space for a five-year old. Luckily I was extremely tired and slept nearly the entire way.
Greating me beyond the custom's door was Quinn, my Vietnamese tour guide until Sunday. She is about 4' 7" and weighs probably 80 pounds soaking wet. But she knows what she's doing. She speaks very little English but is not shying trying it out. For the most part I can understand what she trying to share with me.
Yesterday morning we set out for the three hour drive to Ha Long Bay, one of the most famous sites in the world. In fact it is vying for one the the new Wonders of the World.
I can't remember the last time I was on a mot0rcycle - probably high school, Suzanne's boyfriend Kim Garfield had one and that is the last time! So you can imagine my apprehension climbing on the back of a Honda, behind a 80 pound girl and hurling through some of the most bizarre traffic laws I've ever seen. I read once that the rules for driving in Viet Nam are:
Don't hit anyone
Don't let anyone hit you
People carry everything on their motorcycle. I saw crates of cute little pigs, chickens hugh bunches of flowers, sometimes entire families were on one motorscycle!
Thank God that because of her helmet I was not able to see the road ahead - that might have done me in.
I am having an amazing time and often have to pinch myself to truly believe I am actually here! The sights, sounds, smells are entirely different from anything in my past experience.
Today we will return to Hanoi, tour the city and see the water puppet show. Tomorrow morning I'll meet all my new biking friends. Stay tuned!
